The purpose of the Officer Transitional Workshop is to better prepare all executive board officers of our culturally-based student organizations, and to provide them with the tools they will need to be more effective leaders.

The event will function like a "one-stop shop"--the majority of the tasks and issues your organizations may and will encounter will be addressed and discussed during the workshop. We will provide various resources to your organization that are going to be beneficial to your success; that is why this is such an excellent and valuable opportunity for you all to take part in.

The Department of Multicultural Affairs wants your leadership to be equipped to guide your organization to success during the 2014-2015 school year; therefore, participation is required for all new incoming executive board officers. Registration will open soon.

Each officer of your organization must sign up individually. The deadline to register for this event is Friday, April 11, 2014.

Food will be provided for all participants. If you have any questions, please contact Geoffrey Griggs, Assistant Director for Multicultural Affairs.

Expected Outcomes

Student leaders who take part in our Officer Transitional Workshop can expect to learn how to do the following tasks associated with their officer positions:

  • Strategies to better retain and recruit members

  • How to best utilize both on- and off-campus resources

  • Approval processes and procedures

  • How to effectively plan and execute events

  • Stress management techniques

  • Professionalism and accountability among members

And much more!
