STEPS is a peer-to-peer outreach program designed to acclimate incoming freshmen to collegiate life at Baylor University through comfort, support, and mentorship in order to ensure success academically, spiritually, and socially.


This program will focus on fostering positive relationships with students. The mentors will help the first year students navigate their first year at Baylor and in Waco. STEPS is dedicated to helping students:
  • Be successful at Baylor
  • Get involved on campus
  • Build relationships with students, faculty and staff
  • Enjoy their first year

Program Goals

STEPS dedicated to helping students identify areas of social interest on the Baylor campus. Goals of STEPS include:
  • Increase retention
  • Develop positive, reinforcing relationships between students
  • Equip students with the necessary skills and resources to be successful and engaged throughout their college journey
  • Promote active participation for first-year students
