Baylor Faculty Presents Research Feb. 14

Baylor University's Graduate School will host the third annual Faculty Research Day from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the Bill Daniel Student Center and Tidwell Bible Building Room 301.
The research presentations will focus on work done by Baylor faculty outside of class and are designed to stimulate interest in multidisciplinary research. The planning committee for the event sent out a general call for presentations and narrowed the field through a selection process.
"We strive for variety as well as interest and completion of findings when making our selection. They range across schools and disciplines, and well over half each year are published, or are using us as a dry-run for their presentations," said Dr. Henry Walbesser, dean of the Graduate School and professor of computer science.
"Our intention is for faculty and students to be introduced to research and concepts not necessarily in their field, but to be exposed to a variety of fields."
The sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes each, with 25-30 minutes allotted for each presentation and the remaining time for discussion and questions. The presentations range from "The Parliamentary Press Gallery and Its Relationship with Government Officials in Small States," by Dr. Lianne Fridriksson, assistant professor of journalism, from 8-8:45 a.m. in the White Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center, to "The Bell Curve" by Dr. Jon Bruschke, assistant professor of communication studies, from 10-10:45 a.m. in the Gregory Room.
Other presentations include "Compulsive Buying" by Dr. James Roberts, assistant professor of marketing, from 3-3:45 p.m. in the Fentress Room, and "The Identity of the Mexican," presented in Spanish by Deborah Van Damme, lecturer in Spanish, from 3-3:45 p.m. in the White Room.
