Baylor Law School's chapter of Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity has teamed with Baylor Law professors to create a novel event - the Professor Auction - to raise money for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). The auction will feature 14 special experiences high bidders can enjoy with some of the law school's faculty.

Some of the items on the table include:

    • skeet shooting with Professor David Guinn,
    • three-on-three basketball with Professor Brian Serr,
    • a basketball field trip to the Ferrell Center with Professor Mike Rogers,
    • a day of shopping and fashion advice with Professor Bridget Fuselier and
    • golfing with Professor Luke Meier, to name a few.

To get into the auction spirit, the law professors recorded short videos advertising their items up for bid. The silent auction will take place between Monday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Dec. 3. A live auction will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 in the student lounge on the first floor of the law school.

"This year we are hosting an auction and have 13 Baylor Law professors sponsoring events," said Ashley Parker, president of Baylor Law's Phi Alpha Delta chapter. "CASA recruits, trains and supports volunteers to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courtroom and other settings. Its continued commitment to help children find safe, permanent homes during difficult times in their lives is a goal that we are happy to support.

"We came up with this fundraiser to allow Baylor Law professors to host a fun event where they can get to know their students better, while helping a great organization," Parker continued.

Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity is a professional law fraternity advancing integrity, compassion and courage through service to the student, the school, the profession and the community.

CASA volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. For more information, go to http://www.texascasa.org/.

Other activities up for auction are:
• "Barbells & Barbeque" - Workout at Gold's Gym with Professor Rory Ryan. Then head to a nearby ranch for a barbeque with some old-time Waco lawyers who will tell (probably untrue and surely exaggerated) stories about the good ol' days. Professor Ryan already disclaims any connection to the views expressed around the campfire.
• "Baylor Basketball Bonanza" - Attend the Baylor vs. Kansas men's basketball game with Professor Jill Wieber Lens and her husband! Go Bears!
• "Cajun Cookout" - Enjoy a delicious Cajun Cookout at Professor Bridget Fuselier's home.
• "Crickets & Tickets" - Attend a Baylor Softball Game with Dean Brad Toben. Then head to Crickets for dinner. Go Lady Bears!
• "Gumbo, Grits, & Gravy" - Enjoy a cooking lesson followed by a scrumptious dinner at Professor Connie Powell's home.
• "Hike & Bike" - Go hiking, biking, or kayaking with Associate Dean Leah Jackson. Then go eat at a local restaurant of your choice.
"Laps with LAPP" - Run the Bear Trail with Professor Ron Beal. Then enjoy a delicious meal at D's Mediterranean Café. Plus, every winner will get a LAPP Scholar shirt designed by Professor Beal.
• "Mystery Event with Professor Larry Bates"
• "Sniper's Strike-out" - Spend an evening bowling with Professor Matthew Cordon.
