Baylor Announces Faculty Promotions for 1995-96

Baylor University recently announced the promotion of 41 faculty members and the addition of 51 new or visiting faculty members for the 1995-96 school year. The number of faculty members at Baylor is approximately 650.
"All of the faculty members who have been promoted are deserving individuals recommended by their deans for promotion on the basis of excellent teaching, contributions to the university, and scholarly and creative activities," said Dr. Donald Schmeltekopf, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
In the College of Arts of Sciences, faculty members promoted to associate professor are Paul McCoy, Department of Art; Dr. Gregory T. Garrett and Dr. Dianna Vitanza, Department of English; Dr. Joan Supplee, Department of History; Dr. Douglas Ferdon, Department of Journalism; Dr. Sheila Toombs, Department of Philosophy; Dr. J. Randall O'Brien and Dr. Mikeal Parsons, Department of Religion.
Faculty members promoted to professor are Dr. Kenneth Wilkins and Dr. Daniel Wivagg, Department of Biology; Patricia Cook and William Sherry, Department of Theater Arts; Dr. L. Gerald Fielder, Department of Political Science; Dr. James SoRelle, Department of History; Dr. Donald Greene, Department of Geology; and Dr. Homer Garcia, Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, and Gerontology.
In the Hankamer School of Business, faculty members promoted to associate professor are Dr. Steven Rich, Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate; Dr. C. Chet Miller, Department of Management; and Dr. Daniel Rajaratnam, Department of Marketing. Those promoted to professor are Dr. Donald Cunningham, finance, insurance and real estate; and Dr. John Seaman Jr., Department of Information Systems.
In the School of Education, Dr. Betty Conaway, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, has been promoted to associate professor. Promoted to professor is Dr. Margaret Wooddy, Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation.

In the School of Music, Helen Shanley, Division of Instrumental Studies, has been promoted to associate professor. Krassimira Jordan, Division of Keyboard Studies, and Michael Haithcock, Division of Ensembles, have been promoted to professor.
School of Nursing faculty members promoted to associate professor are Dr. Leslie Hussey, Dr. Johanna Guenther and Dr. Alice Pappas. Dr. Pauline Johnson has been promoted to professor.
In the library system, Patricia Bellus, Moody Memorial Library, and Robert Krapohl, Jesse H. Jones Library, have been promoted to assistant professor. Ellen Brown, The Texas Collection, has been promoted to associate professor.
