Bearathon, a half-marathon sponsored by Baylor University's Student Foundation, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 1. A twist on the traditional Bear Downs bicycle race, Bearathon follows a 13.1 mile route through Baylor's campus and Cameron Park. The event is a scholarship fundraiser for Baylor students and also encourages student involvement in the community.
Registration forms can be picked up at the information desk in the Bill Daniel Student Center or the Student Foundation office in the basement of Roxy Grove Hall. Early registration deadline was Friday, Feb. 14. The fee is $30. Registration will continue through Feb. 21, but will require an additional $15 late fee.
Participants will receive a t-shirt, and, in addition, all finishers will receive a long-sleeve black shirt. Participants can pick up packets on Feb.27 and Feb. 28 in the Student Center.
The race has 3 divisions: Baylor students, Baylor faculty/staff, and community. Participants must be 18 or older. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top 3 male and female finishers in each category. Winners for first place will receive $300, second place $200, and third place $100.
