The Baylor University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International will host all current and past members at a 40th anniversary celebration event from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, in room 139 of the Draper Academic Building.

Phi Delta Kappa International is the premier professional association for educators, with a membership of 35,000 that includes teachers, principals, superintendents and higher education faculty and administrators. More than 250 local PDK chapters, most located on college campuses, give PDK members a unique opportunity to network with other educators.

"The Baylor Chapter of PDK has been providing support for our local educational community for 40 years," said Dr. Trena Wilkerson, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in Baylor's School of Education. "Our membership comes from throughout the Waco area, and many are Baylor alumni."

PDK's mission is to support education, particularly public education, as the cornerstone of democracy. Its vision is to cultivate great educators for tomorrow, while continuing to ensure high-quality education for today.
