Baylor Celebrates Its 100th Homecoming Anniversary

Pigskin Revue, Singspiration, Extravaganza and the Homecoming parade are just a few of the traditional events taking place in celebration of Baylor University's 100th Anniversary Homecoming Oct. 19-25.
Pigskin Revue, which showcases award-winning student acts from the 2009 All University Sing, will be held at 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in Waco Hall, with a final performance at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
Cabaret will feature the popular student ensemble ShowTime! at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center.

Singspiration, one of the longest traditions at Baylor Homecoming, will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Seventh and James Baptist Church. This year's celebration will highlight ways the Baylor family has contributed to the worship life of congregations around the world. The evening will feature various soloists and worship leaders, the Baylor Alumni Choir and Baylor Religious Hour Choir.

The Homecoming Extravaganza will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Fountain Mall. Guest can enjoy carnival rides and food before getting ready for the game during the Pep Rally at 9 p.m.
Along with Extravaganza and the Pep Rally, the freshmen class will light the bonfire at 9 p.m. Since 1946, the bonfire traditionally guarded the campus and the mascots from rival teams.

The annual Homecoming Parade, believed to be the oldest and largest collegiate parade in the nation, will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Eighth Street and Austin Avenue. The Parade will end at Fifth and James streets by 11 a.m.

KWBU-TV Ch. 34 will broadcast the parade from the Baylor campus, with live coverage from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The parade also will be streamed live at www.baylor.edu/homecoming.

The Baylor Bears will take on Oklahoma State in the Homecoming football game at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Floyd Casey Stadium. Tickets may be purchased from the Athletic Department ticket office at (254) 710-1000, or online at www.baylorbears.com.

Homecoming activities will conclude with the Homecoming Worship Service at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, in Truett Seminary's Paul W. Powell Chapel.
