Baylor Welcomes September Chapel Speakers

September 2, 2009

Musicians, inspirational speakers and business professionals are among the guests for September Chapel at Baylor University in Waco Hall.
Tim McKenzie will speak on Sept. 14. He is president and founder of On Every Word, a nonprofit ministry to share the living word of God by music and visual images. McKenzie is also an Ironmen Bible Study teacher at Second Baptist Church in Houston.
Jack Calhoun, founder and past president of the National Crime Prevention Council, will speak Sept. 21. His ability to educate will help students discover how faith motivates Americans.
Baylor alumni, Robbie and Chris Seay will perform on Sept. 28. Chris Seay is also the teaching pastor at Ecclesia, a church in Houston where the band leads worship.
Baylor Chapel is being revamped this semester. Instead of having a speaker or performance twice a week, a guest will only be present on Mondays. Wednesdays will be reserved for community worship led by the Spiritual Life Staff.
This new approach to Baylor Chapel is described as a "just us chapel" by Jared Slack, seminary pastoral resident in worship. The purpose of Wednesday chapel is to create a special type of worship that centers on the Baylor community.
Baylor University's department of University Ministries sponsors Chapel in Waco Hall on Baylor's campus at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m Mondays and Wednesdays.
