Air Force General, Baylor Alumna, To Speak At ROTC Conclave Nov. 1

Baylor University's Air Force ROTC detachment will host an area conclave Friday through Sunday, Oct. 31-Nov. 2. ROTC cadets from 14 universities from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas are expected to attend. Brig. Gen. Jan Denny Eakle, a Baylor University alumna, will serve a guest speaker at a military banquet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Barfield Drawing Room.
Eakle, who serves as Vice Commander of Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base (AFB) in Utah, was commissioned in 1975 after completing the Air Force ROTC program at Baylor. She earned a master's degree from Baylor before entering active duty in 1976.
During her time in the Air Force, she has served as Commander of the 62nd Support Group at McChord AFB in Washington, as a National Defense Fellow at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center, as executive assistant to the Commander in Chief and Chief of Staff of the U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt AFB and as commander of the 377th Air Base Wing at Kirtland AFB. She was promoted to Brigadier General in March 2002.
She is the recipient of the Defense Superior Service Medal, a Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters and a National Defense Service Medal.
In addition to the banquet and various business meetings, the cadets will attend a Halloween costume party on Friday and Dr Pepper Hour at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. A paintball tournament is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday.
Conclave serves as a business meeting for the area detachments. A national conclave is held each spring.
