Baylor Mourns Death of English Professor

Dr. Nancy Chinn

Memorial services have been set for Dr. Nancy Chinn, associate professor of English and director of undergraduate studies at Baylor University, who died May 17 from complications from cancer.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Lake Shore Baptist Church, 5801 Bishop Dr. in Waco.

A memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Lake Shore Baptist Church.

Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Dr. Chinn's husband, Dr. David Longfellow, is an associate professor in the department of history at Baylor. Please keep Dr. Longfellow and their son Nathaniel in your prayers during this difficult time.

Dr. Chinn earned her bachelor's degree in Latin in 1972 and master's degree in English in 1979, both from Radford University. She received her doctorate in English in 1982 from Florida State University. She then joined the Baylor faculty, where her teaching and research interests included 20th-century American literature and women writers, particularly Willa Cather and Zora Neale Hurston.
