Baylor Student Government Hosts Earth Day Fundraiser Featuring Local Organic Produce

April 14, 2008

Baylor University's Student Government Association will host an Earth Day Banquet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, April 21, at Harrington House on the Baylor campus. The four-course meal showcases organic produce donated by local growers, music by the jazz quartet "Blue and Green," and brief presentations by representatives of World Hunger Farm and Keep Waco Beautiful.

Tickets are $35 and are available at the ticket office in the Bill Daniel Student Center or at (254) 710-3210. All proceeds benefit the World Hunger Relief Farm and Keep Waco Beautiful.

World Hunger Relief is an Elm Mott-based Christian organization committed to the alleviation of hunger. The World Hunger Relief Farm provides organic produce to both its members, who financially support the farm through subscriptions, and Caritas, a local charitable organization that helps individuals and families in need. Keep Waco Beautiful encourages and supports anti-litter, recycling and community beautification projects throughout the Waco community.

The Earth Day Banquet will kick-off a series of Earth Week events taking place at Baylor.
