Design Invitational Exhibit To Open Jan. 14

January 10, 2003

An exhibit featuring the works of five commercial artists will open next week at the University Art Gallery at Baylor University's Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. The Design Invitational will run from Tuesday, Jan. 14, through Friday, Feb. 7.
Approximately 50 pieces by artists Brent Anderson, Charles Isoline, Dennis Gore, Richard Gavos and Holly Patterson Forbes will be displayed at the gallery. All the artists work in Texas, and Gore and Forbes are Baylor alumni. The exhibited pieces range from furniture by Anderson to computer generated art by Isoline to commercial advertising by Gore, Gavos and Forbes.
"Every year we try to sponsor exhibits that focus on the art department's various divisions, such as ceramics or photography or, in this case, commercial art," said Denny Pickett, director of the University Art Gallery. "But this is a very nice show that should appeal to everyone."
Admission to the exhibit is free. The University Art Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and during Baylor Theatre performances.
