'Santa Bear' Brings Holiday Cheer To BU Campus
by Alan Hunt
Bringing holiday cheer to the Baylor Law School family and visitors, the towering bronze sculpture of a stylized standing bear stands on the southwest lawn of the Sheila and Walter Umphrey Law Center.
The bear sculpture, including the base, is 15 feet tall and has a nine-foot arm span. Commissioned and underwritten by Darrell (JD 1970) and Susan (a Baylor alumna and a lawyer) Keith of Fort Worth through the Darrell and Susan Keith Foundation, the bear is the work of respected Hill Country sculptors Gene and Rebecca Tobey of Mason.
