Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex invites you to bring your family to a model train exhibit now through Dec. 17. The Central Texas Area Model Railroaders Club has installed six model train sets that fill the 5,000-square-foot Anding Traveling Exhibit Gallery at the museum. Operating layouts of scale model trains include elaborate scenes - past and present - of bridges and trestles, cities and towns. One train set allows visitors to operate it themselves by pushing the buttons on the front of the exhibit.

The models range in size from a Z scale, which is the smallest commercially available model railway at a ratio of 1:220, to a G scale, which is more commonly referred to as a garden railway at a ratio of 1:24. Just follow the flashing signal lights in the rotunda to the train displays. The young and the young-at-heart will enjoy imagining the excitement of being a train engineer.

During the week, the trains will operate from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., except for Thursday when they will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 8 p.m. The trains will run on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The exhibit is free with admission to the museum.

On Saturday and Sunday, the museum also will show the popular holiday movie, "The Polar Express," in the SBC Theater. There will be two showings on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. On Sunday the movie will run at 2 p.m. The movie is free with admission to the museum, but reservations are encouraged. Reserve your seats by calling Sherri Jurls at (254) 710-1108 or Sherri_Jurls@baylor.edu.

Make a full day of it by including a box lunch and a special activity. The lunch package is $9 for members, $14 for adult non-members and $12 for child non-members. Lunch is by reservation only, so please call (254) 710-1108 by Dec. 13 to reserve your lunch.

The Mayborn Museum Complex is located on the Baylor University campus at 1300 S. University Parks Dr. Museum admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $4 for children. For more information, call 254 710-1110 or go to www.baylor.edu/mayborn.
