Baylor University students will have the opportunity to pause and reflect during special worship Chapel services at 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Waco Hall. The worship Chapel service was created in response to student evaluations that said they would like to see an entire Chapel dedicated to worshipping Christ through song.

"We consider this service a chance to stop in the middle of our busy days and simply breathe, remember and respond to a living God," said Ryan Richardson, coordinator for worship and media.

The service will include songs from various genres and traditions, including ancient hymns that people have sung for generations, as well as new expressions that recently have been introduced in Chapel, according to Richardson.

Leading worship with Richardson will be junior Taylor Howard on acoustic guitar and lead vocal, junior David Spann on electric guitar, junior David Bonem on bass, senior Megan Murray on drums, sophomore Joy Pfanner on vocals and senior Karen Allen on violin.

"I hope that students leave Chapel with a better understanding of God, a clearer sense of call and a renewed ability to connect their own existence with the purposes of God," Richardson said.

A May 2004 graduate of George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Richardson began leading Chapel worship in 2001. Prior to working at Baylor, he traveled throughout the U.S. and overseas leading worship for 11 years. Richardson continues to lead worship at various camps, retreats and conferences.
