Cookies and Blossoms Holiday Party Scheduled for Dec. 2

November 28, 2005

Baylor University's Burleson Quadrangle is blooming with winter flowers, and university faculty, staff and students are invited to stroll among the gardens while enjoying homemade Christmas cookies and hot chocolate at the Cookies and Blossoms holiday party from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.
Currently, the Burleson gardens are planted with violas, pansies and ribbon snapdragons, which at about 20 inches tall are much taller than most snapdragons.
"All of these flowers are annuals that love cool weather and can withstand snow but not ice and prolonged cold temperatures. All of them will bloom beautifully through the winter and on until they are replaced in April with the summer annuals," said Lynn Woodward, coordinator of campus advocacy for facility services and hostess of Cookies and Blossoms.
The popular monthly event, sponsored by Facility Services, showcases the various beauty spots on the Baylor campus and usually takes place the last Friday of the month. However, the November and December gathering will be combined for the holiday party.
The next Cookies and Blossoms will take place Jan. 27. The events are free for faculty, staff and students.
