Baylor University's chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha will host the 13th annual Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Barfield Drawing Room. This year's pageant is called "The Nubian Gifts of the Nile."
The pageant will showcase eight contestants who were chosen based on community involvement, academic background and a need for the scholarship. The pageant will include a formal interview before the event, personal introductions by the contestants, a talent portion and a question and answer segment. The winner of the pageant will receive $1,000; second place will receive $750; and third place will win $500.
"The pageant gives our fraternity the opportunity to give back to the students on campus and showcase the wonderful attributes of the African American females here at Baylor University," said Colin McKentie, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha.
Tickets are $5 or $3 with a student ID, and admission is open to the public. For more information, contact McKentie at (832) 423-1864 or Taryn Ozuna at 710-6949.
