BGCT Approves New Seminary Funding

October 30, 2000

Messengers to the Baptist General Convention of Texas annual meeting in Corpus Christi on Monday approved a 2001 budget that redirects $4.3 million from the six Southern Baptist Convention-operated seminaries to three Texas institutions including Baylor's Truett Seminary.
Both the report of the BGCT Seminary Study Committee, which proposed the new funding plan, and the 2001 budget proposal passed by comfortable margins. The new funding for Truett will provide additional scholarships and allow the Seminary to add faculty and strengthen programs.
