Top Texas Family Businesses Announced

Family businesses from across the state of Texas are slated to be honored Thursday, Nov. 3, at the 16th annual Texas Family Business of the Year® Awards banquet on the Baylor University campus.
Baylor's Institute for Family Business sponsors the program, which is designed to recognize firms whose families demonstrate a commitment to their community and strong business and family values.
"As a university which values both family traditions and business accomplishments, we at Baylor are proud to back an event which not only honors the commercial success of these businesses, but also recognizes their commitment to maintaining strong family relationships," said J. David Allen, director of the John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship at Baylor's Hankamer School of Business.

This year's award winners are:
? Small family business - Horaney's Inc., Longview
? Medium family business - Citizens 1st Bank, Tyler
? Large family business - T.B. Butler Publishing Co. Inc., Tyler
? Community commitment award - John Manlove Marketing & Communications, Pasadena
? Family values award - Farias & Farias Customhouse Brokers, Laredo
? Fastest-growing award - Power Service Products Inc., Weatherford
? Founders award - Sykora Family Ford Inc., West
? Well-managed award - The Expo Group, Irving
? Heritage award - SGS Industrial Supplies, Brownsville

Finalists in this year's competition were: Claffey Pools, Southlake; Joslin Construction Co., Porter; Lifeguard Aeromed, Fort Worth; and REDLEE/SCS Group, Dallas.
