Baylor Wind Ensemble To Perform Patriotic Program Sept. 21

The second concert in the School of Music's Showcase Series will feature the Baylor University Wind Ensemble at 8 p.m. Friday, September 21, in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building. The performance will be conducted by assistant professor and acting director of bands Jeffrey Grogan.
In view of last week's terrible tragedy in New York City, Washington and Pennsylvania, this concert will feature several selections of a patriotic songs, including "The Star-Spangled Banner," "Amazing Grace," "America, the Beautiful" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever."
Also on the program will be Frank Ticheli's "Postcard," the composer's memorial to Ethel Virginia Curry, mother of his former teacher, H. Robert Reynolds.
"La Fiesta Mexicana," composer H. Owen Reed's evocation of a Mexican fiesta celebration, will be presented in three colorful movements: "Prelude and Aztec Dance," "Mass," and "Carnival."
Tickets for the showcase series concerts are $5, and are available at the door only. The final concert will be Friday, Nov. 2.
