The “Light the Night” Walk, a nationwide Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fund-raiser, will take place at Baylor University for the first time on Sept. 23. Registration begins at 6 p.m., and the walk around the Bear Trail starts at 7:30 p.m. Sponsors include Scott & White, Cookie Bouquet, Chick-Fil-A and Outback Steakhouse.
Approximately 300 walkers are expected to participate, including cancer survivors who will carry illuminated white balloons. Participants who raise $25 or more carry illuminated red balloons, and those who contribute at least $75 also will receive a Light the Night t-shirt.
Pre- and post- walk activities will feature music and refreshments. Other walk sites around Texas include Denton, Longview, Abilene, Grand Prairie, Forth Worth and the Mesquite Rodeo.
Since its establishment in 1949, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been dedicated to finding a cure for all blood-related cancers. Today there are 59 chapters across the United States.
