Cookies and Blossoms to Showcase Prayer Garden

September 22, 2005

Cookies and Blossoms, the popular monthly event that showcases on of Baylor University's outdoor beauty spots, will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the Erica Cummings Memorial Prayer Garden outside the Baylor Sciences Building. Homemade brownies of various kinds and lemonade will be served. The event is sponsored by facility services.
"The garden contains mophead hydrangeas, azaleas, Virginia sweet spires, daylilies and white crape myrtles," said Lynn Woodward, coordinator of campus advocacy for facility services and Cookies and Blossoms hostess.
The Erica Cummings Memorial Prayer Garden was opened in the fall of 2004, at the opening of the Baylor Sciences Building. The garden is in memory of Erica Cummings, a student at Baylor from fall 1995 until her death Dec. 26, 1997. Donors for the garden were Elizabeth and Monica Cummings.
The garden is located outside the south entrance of the building.
The Cookies and Blossoms reception takes place the last Friday of each month and is free and open to all Baylor faculty, staff and students.
