Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation Inc. Funding Baylor Educations in More Than One Way

August 8, 2005

Baylor University announced today gifts from Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation Inc. of Waco, Texas, that will provide for the establishment of the Brazos Higher Education Endowed Scholarship Fund in the Baylor School of Law and the Brazos Higher Education Endowed Scholarship Fund in the Hankamer School of Business.
"We recognized that there are a number of young people for whom loans don't cover their needs," said Murray Watson, president of Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation Inc. "Our business is the delivery of financial aid, so we decided to give these scholarships. If it helps students, it helps Baylor."
Both scholarships will be awarded by the schools' respective deans to full-time students on the basis of merit and need.
"The Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation Inc. has helped finance educational opportunities for untold numbers of students for 30 years," said Brad Toben, dean of the Baylor School of Law. "It is therefore fitting that Brazos Higher Education, through Murray Watson's visionary leadership and stewardship, is making this sort of critical support available to our law students who themselves will go forth to practice in a serving profession."
"I appreciate the support that the Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation Inc. recently provided through the establishment of an endowed scholarship for business students," said Dr. Terry Maness, dean of Baylor's Hankamer School of Business. "This type of support will help us remain competitive as a private university, to attract the best talent to our program."
The Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation Inc. is a non-profit company that facilitates the delivery of student financial aid, making postsecondary education a reality for thousands of students. The company, founded in 1975 in Waco, has built its reputation on providing quality customer service to borrowers, families and schools throughout the United States.
