Duo Contemporain To Participate In Baylor Lecturer Series

The Baylor University Lecturer Series will present a recital by Duo Contemporain at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in Meadows Recital Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building. The recital is co-sponsored by The Gaudeamus Foundation and The Selmer Company, USA.
Founded in 1981, Duo Contemporain is regarded as a leader in the contemporary music field. The duo's repertoire of more than 250 works has been performed in many concert halls and international music festivals.
The duo includes Henri Bok, who serves as professor of bass clarinet at the Rotterdam Conservatoire; and percussionist Miguel Bernat, who teaches in Portugal at La Escuela Superior de Porto and the Professional School in Espinho.
Their program will include music by Luis de Pablo, Fredrick Kaufman, Klaus Ager, Franco Donatoni, Klaas de Vries and Michael Smetanin. Instrumentation will be bass clarinet, vibraphone, marimba and percussion in various combinations.
Following the recital, Duo Contemporain will present bass clarinet and percussion master classes from 5 to 6 p.m. in Rooms 114 and 131 in the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
