More than 60 prospective students from Baylor University and throughout Texas and the U.S. who are interested in learning more about George W. Truett Theological Seminary will be on the Baylor campus Thursday and Friday, March 15-16, for Truett's Spring Preview.
The preview allows prospective seminarians to attend seminary classes, learn about Truett's many academic options, meet Truett faculty, students and staff, tour the Baylor campus and view the construction of Truett's $17 million, 64,000-square-foot campus.
"It's a wonderful opportunity for prospective students to experience firsthand the Truett Seminary community and the academic programs Truett offers," said Matt Sciba, the seminary's coordinator of prospective student services.
Parents and spouses also are encouraged to attend. Accommodations and meals are provided.
Registration begins Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Truett Seminary, located at First Baptist Church at Fifth Street and Clay Avenue in Waco. Dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. will be held at Ninfa's Restaurant in downtown Waco, followed by "Coffee and Conversation" at J.D.'s Art Cafe on Austin Avenue.
On Friday, the day begins at 7:45 a.m. in the large parlor at First Baptist Church with a light breakfast and introduction to the day's events. An information session on student life will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a session on finances from 10 to 10:30 a.m. From 10:30 a.m. to noon, prospective students will visit two seminary classes, then join Truett faculty members for lunch in the fellowship hall. An information session on academics will take place from 1 to 2 p.m, followed by Baylor campus tours from 2 to 3 p.m. and free time from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The preview will conclude with a dinner with faculty from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Harrington House on the Baylor campus.
"These previews are probably the most important thing we do in recruiting, to show students the distinctives of Truett Seminary," said René Maciel, director of student services.
