Baylor University will play host to more than 80 flag football teams from throughout Texas and surrounding states who will take part in the 2000 U.S. Army Reserve Flag Football Regional Tournament, presented by Uncle Ben's, this Friday through Sunday on the Baylor intramural fields by the McLane Student Life Center.
The tournament is sponsored by the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
"We are excited to be one of the eight hosts in the nation for this tournament," said Kevin Engelbrecht, Baylor's intramural coordinator. "We are committed and passionate about raising the standard of excellence associated with this event."
The Baylor-sponsored tournament features teams comprised of students, faculty and staff competing in three divisions -- men, women and co-rec. Games will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the intramural fields with the championship game set for 10 a.m. Sunday. A worship service prior to the championship game will be held at 8 a.m. at Edgefield Park across Bagby Avenue from the intramural fields.
The champion and runner-up in each division are invited to participate in the Army Reserve National Invitational Flag Football Championship at the Nokia Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
