A Baylor University team will compete with champions from other universities in the Regional College Bowl Tournament Feb. 16-18 at the University of Texas at San Antonio. College Bowl, considered the "varsity sport of the mind," is sponsored by the Association of College Unions International.
Fifteen regional tournaments winners, as well as a wild-card team, will advance to the National College Bowl Tournament to be held April 27-29 at California State University at Los Angeles. Baylor's region includes teams from universities in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.
A campus-level qualifying tournament to determine Baylor's College Bowl team was held in November. Team members include Erik Chandler, a junior and team captain from West Palm Beach, Fla.; Marcus D. Johnson, a sophomore from Converse; Sarah Pemelton, a junior from Mercedes; and Gary Rees, a senior from Eagle, Idaho. The faculty adviser for the team is Dr. Randy Wood, professor of curriculum and instruction and director of the Center for Christian Education.
For more information, contact Wood at 710-4944 or Dana Lee Haines, assistant director of students activities, at 710-2371.
