April 13, 2000

High school juniors and seniors and their parents will explore the campus of Baylor University and experience a glimpse of campus life Friday and Saturday during Spring Premiere, an "open house" sponsored by admissions services and Alpha Phi Omega, a student service organization.
"Spring Premiere is a great opportunity for high school students and their parents to come experience the campus and find out what it's like, in the best way we can show them, to be a Baylor student," said Kevin Kirk, assistant director of admissions services. "We hope that the students and their family members will come away with a good picture of what Baylor is like and with the information they need to decide if Baylor is their choice for college."
Premiere begins Friday night with an informal mixer for students, parents, Baylor professors and admissions staff from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Bill Daniel Student Center. On Saturday, registration is scheduled from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Ferrell Center where a light breakfast also will be served. Premiere staff will welcome students at 9 a.m., followed by "Just the Facts" about applying for admission, scholarships, financial aid and the day's activities.
From 10:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., students and their families can take advantage of "free time." Some of the possibilities available include campus tours, lunch at the campus food courts, residence hall tours, shopping at the bookstores, a student activities fair in Marrs McLean Gym, tours of the McLane Student Life Center, an opportunity to meet Baylor's mascot "Chance," self-guided library tours and lab tours. Special interest sessions include an Admissions and Scholarships/Financial Aid Office open house, answers to frequently asked questions from students and parents, and information about multi-cultural opportunities and international/study abroad programs.
Academic sessions featuring presentations by Baylor professors will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and 3 to 3:45 p.m. on campus Premiere will come to a close from 4 to 4:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
