All-University Sing Competition To Begin Feb. 18

February 2, 2000

Baylor University will hold the 47th annual All-University Sing, a student musical production, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18-19 and Feb. 25-26, in Waco Hall. All performances will begin at 7 p.m. Although all four performances are sold out, tickets are available to the dress rehearsal at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24.
This year's performance will include 19 different groups, represented in 17 acts. A national panel of judges from cheerleading, dance, theater and musical backgrounds will review the acts, judging the last three performances on the basis of entertainment value, musical quality, creativity, choreography and theme development. The winners will be announced at the end of the last night of performances.
The judges will recognize the top three acts with first, second and third place awards, and the top eight acts will perform at Baylor's annual Pigskin Revue during Homecoming week next fall. Each of the top eight acts will receive $1,000 to cover expenses needed to prepare for Pigskin Revue. The first-place winner will receive a trophy inscribed with the names of the winners from 1953 to the present.
The People's Choice awards, created for last year's production, also will be included in this year's awards ceremony. The award is based on the audience's votes on best backdrop, best music selection, best theme development and best costumes.
Tickets for the dress rehearsal are $5.
