This year's Baylor/Waco Piano Competition will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, on the Baylor University campus.
The Baylor/Waco Piano Competition, sponsored by the Baylor School of Music, is now in its 21st year. It provides an annual opportunity for talented young pianists to gain valuable experience and recognition. There also are cash prizes awarded to the top two winners in each of the five divisions.
This year's event will feature a total of 55 contestants, grades seven through twelve, who will represent the independent piano studios of 26 different teachers from across Texas and Oklahoma.
The Baylor/Waco Piano Competition is comprised of two main categories--the piano solo competition and the piano concerto competition. Each of those categories consists of various divisions, based upon the age of the contestant.
Winners in every division will be announced at an awards presentation ceremony at 1:45 p.m. in Meadows Recital Hall.
All Baylor/Waco Piano Competition activities are free and open to the public. For more information, call the keyboard division of the Baylor School of Music at 710-1417.
