Baylor University will host the 43rd annual Central Texas Regional Science Fair Thursday and Friday, March 25-26, in the Ferrell Center. Approximately 375 students from 19 schools in six counties have entered this year's competition.
Science Fair participants are separated into one of two divisions. Students in grades 6-8 participate in the junior division, while grades 9-12 are entered in the senior division. Each division is further broken into different science categories, ranging from chemistry to computer science. The senior division entrants compete in one of 15 categories, while junior division students enter projects in one of five categories in either advanced or regular competition. Awards are presented to junior and senior division winners.
Judging for the fair begins at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The public is invited to view the various science projects from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The award ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. The top two individual winners in the senior division will qualify for the International Science Fair, which will be held May 2-8 in Philadelphia. The top team in the senior division also qualifies for the International Science Fair.
In addition to displaying their science projects, students also will attend workshops presented by TU Electric and the Baylor department of chemistry.
