Plano Senior Receives Rotary International Scholarship

WACO, Texas -- Jennifer Widney, a Baylor University senior from Plano, has been awarded a one-year Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship for approximately $23,000.Widney, a speech communication major, plans to work on her master's degree in communication at a university in Montreal, France or Belgium. She will find out in January where she will begin her graduate work.
The Rotary Foundation's oldest and best-known program, the Ambassadorial Scholarships were established in 1947. Since that time, nearly 30,000 young people from 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices. The primary objective of the scholarships program is to promote international understanding as the scholars are expected to serve as ambassadors of goodwill during the term of their scholarships.
Widney, who is sponsored by the Plano West Rotary Club, will graduate from Baylor in December. She is the daughter of Marsha Meeks of Plano.
