Professor Speaks on Female Pastors in Baptist Churches

The Baylor University gender studies program will present a lecture Thursday at 3 p.m. in Recital Hall II of Waco Hall.
Dr. Mikeal Parsons, professor of religion, will speak on "What Does the Bible Really Say?: Female Pastors in Baptist Churches." Parsons' views were published in an editorial in the Waco Tribune-Herald July 19. The editorial stemmed from the election of Rev. Julie Pennington-Russell as pastor of Waco's Calvary Baptist Church. "No, Christian Scripture does not forbid women to occupy the role of pastor," said Parsons in his editorial.
