Carla Karst to Perform in Chapel-Forum Oct. 12

October 9, 1998

Contemporary Christian singer and songwriter, Carla Karst, will return to the Baylor University campus for the fourth time to speak and sing during Chapel-Forum at 10 and 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, in Waco Hall.
Karst has been asked back to Baylor each year since her first appearance because her beautiful voice and sacred purpose make her popular with both students and faculty members.
Ministering to thousands, Karst has traveled across the country with the Billy Graham Associate Crusades and the Billy Graham School of Evangelism. She has also been a featured vocalist at Opryland USA.
Karst balances her career with a busy family life. She and her husband, Daniel, have three children, Dustin, Diane and Darah. She believes that her home life inspires her ministry.
"The starting point for expressing Christ is best and most touching when it begins at home," Karst said.
Karst also attributes her effective ministry to her upbringing in the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, Tenn., where she attended church with her grandmother and friends. This upbringing, Karst said, prepared her to minister to a diverse group of listeners including all cultures, races and denominations.
"I couldn't have asked for a better church life growing up," Karst said.
To reach people where she is not able to travel, Karst has recorded five albums. In addition to singing, Karst wrote many of the songs on the albums.
