HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 13, 2022) – The best hour of the week – Baylor University’s Dr Pepper Hour – is entering its second year of its highly lauded Dr Pepper Hour Tour, delivering sweet treats and Baylor swag to high school students across the country. The four-week fall tour is focused on Texas while the eight-week spring tour will include stops in Texas, Arizona and California.

Dr Pepper Hour – a tradition of Baylor University since 1953 – will begin the fall tour in the Houston area with stops Wednesday, Sept. 14, at William P. Clements High School in Sugar Land; Thursday, Sept. 15, at Memorial Senior High School in Houston; and the first of a series of Friday Night Lights stops for Cypress Christian vs. Northland Christian on Friday, Sept. 16, in Houston.

“We wanted to extend the Baylor campus experience across the state and beyond by sharing this legendary Baylor treat with prospective students,” said Jason Cook, vice president for marketing and communications and chief marketing officer at Baylor. “It’s such a unique tradition; where else do students enjoy free ice cream with their friends every week of their college experience?”

Dr Pepper Hour is held on the Baylor campus every Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. with free Dr Pepper floats for students. For the Dr Pepper Hour Tour, a custom Baylor and Dr Pepper-branded truck and trailer will cover the four-week fall tour, Sept. 14-Oct. 7, by stopping at select high schools in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, Waco and Austin.

For the first time, the tour will include a series of Friday Night Lights activations, combining the legendary traditions of Texas high school football and Baylor’s Dr Pepper Hour. Those games include Sept. 16 for Northland Christian at Cypress Christian in Houston, Sept. 30 for Cornerstone Christian at China Spring – 15 miles from Baylor campus – and Oct. 7 for Grace Prep at Pantego Christian Academy in Arlington.

The tour will also set up shop Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Texas Tribune Festival in downtown Austin, the final day of a three-day festival featuring the biggest names in politics and policy.

At each stop, the trailer will create an authentic Baylor experience, including Baylor signage, Baylor Admissions counselors and a limited supply of Dr Pepper float kits. Each guest will be provided a Baylor-branded cup, ice cream and a can of Dr Pepper to help recreate one of the University’s most beloved on-campus traditions. Additional Baylor merchandise and giveaways will be available.
