Baylor Theatre Production Begins April 7

April 2, 1998

Baylor Theatre will present The Difficulty of Crossing a Field at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, in Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Building. The play will continue April 8, 9, 15-18 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on April 18 at 1:30 p.m.
The play was written by contemporary American playwright Mac Wellman and composer David Lang. The script is based on a story written by Ambrose Pierce, a 19th-century war correspondent and journalist. Drama lecturer Steven J. Peters is directing the show.
The play's plot centers around the mysterious disappearance in 1854 of a Selma, Ala., planter. Each witness recounts a different story, and none of the witnesses can testify to the same occurrence.
All of the actors in the show are Baylor students. The main characters in the show are Armour Wren as Scott Baker, Clint Biggerstaff as the presiding magistrate at the inquest, Tom Parr IV as Mr. Williamson, Stephanie Yubarra as Mrs. Williamson, Amanda Archilla as the daughter, Beau Bognes as James, Derek Phillips as Andrew, Erika Williamson as the old woman and Candice Lucas as Sam. The rest of the characters are witnesses and chorus members.
Tickets for the play are $7. Baylor faculty, staff and students can purchase tickets for the performance on April 9 for $5.
