Promise Keepers Founder to Speak at Chapel-Forum April 1

March 31, 1998

Bill McCartney, former head football coach of the Colorado Buffaloes and founder of Promise Keepers, will speak in Chapel-Forum at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesday at Waco Hall.
McCartney overcame a difficult background to become one of the most respected Christian men in the United States. He is highly regarded as a coach and as a Christian leader.
As head coach for the University of Colorado Buffaloes, McCartney led the team to win the national title in 1991. He served at Colorado for 12 years before having a vision for a ministry, which became Promise Keepers, an organization which encourages men to get involved with their churches and uphold Christian morals.
The last time McCartney spoke in Waco was before a football game in 1992 with former Baylor football coach Grant Teaff. McCartney has special connections with Baylor, his son Marc graduated from the university in 1995.
