U.S. News Ranks Baylor's Speech Pathology Program in Top 50

March 25, 1998

U.S. News and World Report has ranked Baylor University's graduate program in speech pathology in the department of communication sciences and disorders as one of the top 50 programs in the United States that offer graduate degrees in speech pathology. Only two other Texas universities were rated in the top 50. Additionally, the Baylor speech pathology program ranked third in the nation among "master's only programs," those programs that do not offer a doctorate.
The rankings were derived from the responses of department chairs from programs in speech pathology from around the nation. Ratings were based on scholarship, curriculum and the quality of the program's faculty and graduate students.
"We are very happy that we ranked so favorably when compared to the programs at other universities that are in Texas," said Dr. Kathy Whipple, professor and chair of the department of communication sciences and disorders.
