Concert Jazz Ensemble Opens New Season Oct. 13

The Baylor University Concert Jazz Ensemble will present its first performance of the 2004-2005 season at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
The 21-member group performs under the direction of Alex Parker, continuing lecturer in jazz studies.
The program will open with Count Basie's familiar One O'Clock Jump, followed by Go Right Ahead by Don Schamber and Bob Curnow's Sweet Lumps and Badger Blues.
The ensemble then will perform Point of Impact by Jeff Jarvis, Raise My Rent by Gordon Goodwin and Pat Metheny's In Her Family.
The performance will conclude with the Sammy Nestico arrangement of Neal Hefti's Whirly Bird.
