February 2, 1998

This year's Baylor/Waco Piano Competition will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, on the Baylor University campus.
The Baylor/Waco Piano Competition sponsored by the Baylor University School of Music, with assistance from the Junior League of Waco, is now in its 19th year. There are also cash prizes awarded to the top two winners in each of the five divisions.
This year's event will feature a total of 55 contestants, in grades seven through twelve, who will journey to Waco from their various hometowns in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
The Baylor/Waco Piano Competition is comprised of two main categories, the piano solo competition and the piano concerto competition, and each of those categories consists of various divisions, depending upon the age of the contestant.
Winners in every division will be announced at an awards presentation ceremony that begins at 2 p.m. in the Glennis McCrary Music Building's Meadows Recital Hall.
