Oct. 31, 1997

The Rev. James A. Forbes will address Baylor University students at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, during Chapel-Forum in Waco Hall. Newsweek recently recognized Forbes as one of the 12 "most effective preachers" in the English speaking world.

"I would much rather preach than eat," Forbes often is quoted as saying. His love for preaching grew from an early age, and he has preached all over the globe. His work as a pastor, educator, administrator, community activist and interfaith leader has influenced thousands around the world.

Forbes is the first African-American to serve as senior minister of one of the largest multicultural congregations in America.
