Baylor University Will Host a Variety of Christmas Concerts, Lectures and Special Events

WACO, Texas (Nov. 28, 2017) – Baylor University will celebrate Christmas and the 2017 holiday season with several concerts, lectures, parties and all-university events.

WEDNESDAY, Nov. 29, 2017

ISR Lecture: “Christmas from the Wise Men’s Point of View: The Apocryphal Revelation of the Magi”
3:30 p.m. in Cox Lecture Hall, Armstrong Browning Library, 710 Speight Ave.

***FREE AND OPEN TO THOSE WHO REGISTER***

The Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion will host Brent Landau, Th.D. and M. Div., lecturer in the department of religious studies at the University of Texas at Austin for his ISR lecture, “Christmas from the Wise Men’s Point of View: The Apocryphal Revelation of the Magi.” Landau will discuss the apocryphal early Christian writing on the events surrounding the coming of Christ, The Revelation of the Magi, and the differences between this text and the biblical account of Christ’s birth. Christmas at the Mayborn Museum
4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mayborn Museum Complex, 1300 S. University Parks Drive.

Join staff and friends of the Mayborn Museum Complex for Christmas-themed events and activities, including a visit from Santa and a special model train display from the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders. Visitors can participate in a Nativity-themed photo opportunity, make their own holiday decorations and more. Experience a special snow spectacular Spark Lab at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Activities and events are included in the price of admission. Admission is free to museum members and Baylor University students.

6 to 10 p.m. in Fountain Mall, Burleson Quadrangle, Traditions Plaza and the Bill Daniel Student Center (The SUB)

Christmas on 5th Street aims to bring to life a quote from W.T. Ellis, who once said, "It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.” The event, which will begin at 6 p.m. on the Baylor campus, will include a tree lighting, a Christmas marketplace, various musical performances, hot cocoa and cookies.
