Baylor's Parents Weekend Set for Oct. 3-4

WACO, Texas - Baylor University will host its annual Parents Weekend on Oct. 3-4, with thousands of parents of Baylor students expected to tour the campus, meet faculty and attend various other events throughout the weekend designed for their entertainment and education.
The weekend activities will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, when visitors can view the Baylor mascots, Judge Bill "Billy" Boyd and Judge Virginia "Ginny" Crump, at the Steve Hudson Memorial Bear Plaza. Dr. Robert G. Packard, professor of physics and Master Teacher, and Betsy B. Willis, lecturer in accounting, will speak at 4 p.m. Friday on the second floor of the Bill Daniel Student Center for "Baylor in Focus." At 5 p.m. Friday, Robert L. Reid, professor emeritus and Master Teacher, will give a history of Baylor in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Student Center.
After Dark, Baylor's annual variety show, will be performed at 7 and 10 p.m. Friday in Waco Hall. Performances will feature Baylor entertainers including vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers and comedians. The day will conclude with a dessert party at 9 p.m. in Burleson Quadrangle.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, a parent/faculty coffee at 8:30 a.m. will allow parents an opportunity to meet their student's professors. Dinner on the grounds will be held at Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village at 11:30 a.m., and President Robert B. Sloan Jr. will give the keynote address.
The weekend will conclude with the Baylor-Texas Tech football game at 6 p.m. Saturday at Floyd Casey Stadium.
