WACO, Texas (Nov. 10, 2017) – George W. Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University will present the T.B. Maston Lecture, “One Christian Ethic? Sabbath as the Diversity of Christian Vocation,” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Paul Powell Chapel of Truett Seminary, 1100 S. Third St.

The guest speaker of this year’s lecture will be Brian R. Brock, Ph.D., reader in moral and practical theology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Brock is a trained theological ethicist and focuses his studies on theologically oriented cultural criticism and constructive Christian ethics.

His book, “Christian Ethics in a Technological Age, as well as in Theology, Disability and the New Genetics: Why Science Needs the Church,” discusses the crossroads between theology and late-modern culture.

Brock received his bachelor’s degree from Colorado Christian University, master’s degree from Loma Linda University, Diploma of Theology from the University of Oxford and his doctorate from King’s College in London. Brock has given lectures in Scotland, England and Romania. He has also written several books and his papers have been published in a variety of journals.

The T.B. Maston Foundation Lectureship in Christian Ethics is given annually at different Texas Baptist institutions of higher education and always focuses on Christian ethics.

The foundation promotes and commemorates the legacy of Dr. Thomas Buford Maston, Christian ethicist, author and lifelong advocate for the deeper understanding and application of the teachings of Jesus.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
