WACO, Texas (Oct. 13, 2017) — This week at Baylor there are numerous opportunities to attend interesting events as Baylor approaches Homecoming weekend.

MONDAY, Oct. 16
Chapel Highlights — The Monks of the Holy Cross Monastery will speak in Waco Hall for Chapel at 9:05, 10:10 and 11:15 a.m. For more information, visit the chapel website.
Movie Mondays at the Hippodrome — The Waco Hippodrome will screen “The Story of Us with Morgan Freeman,” a film about forces that have shaped humanity since the beginning of time: power, belief, rebellion, war and peace, freedom and love. The screening will be at 7 p.m. at 724 Austin Ave. Free tickets can be picked up at the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office or online.
TUESDAY, Oct. 17
Distinguished Artist Series: St. Martin in the Fields — The world-renowned Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble will open Baylor University’s 2017-2018 Distinguished Artist Series with a concert from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall of the Glennis McCrary Music Building, located at 110 Baylor Ave. This concert will present pieces written by famous composers while in their youth. Tickets are available online through the Baylor University box office or in person at the Bill Daniel Student Center. General admission tickets are $15. Mayborn Lecture: Cowboys, Cattle & Culture of the Chisholm Trails — Historian Doug Harman will discuss the cowboys who blazed the Chisholm Trail, the cattle they diligently herded and the culture that surrounded their journey. Cherry Award Public Lecture by Dr. Neil K. Garg — Neil K. Garg, Ph.D., will present "How Organic Chemistry Became One of UCLA’s Most Popular Classes" for the Cherry Award public lecture at 5:30 p.m. in Baylor Sciences Building B.110. The Cherry Award program is designed to honor great teachers, stimulate discussion in the academy about the value of teaching, and encourage departments and institutions to value their own great teachers. Campus Orchestra and Symphonic Band — Baylor’s Campus Orchestra and Symphonic Band will perform from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall of the Glennis McCrary Music Building at 110 Baylor Ave. The Campus Orchestra is conducted by Michael Alexander, and the Symphonic Band is conducted by Isaiah Odajima. World Cinema Series — Baylor’s department of modern languages and cultures will screen a French film entitled “La tête en friche” ("My Afternoons With Marguerite") at 6 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium of Draper Hall, at 1400 S. THURSDAY, Oct. 19
Revisiting Red October: Commemorating the Centennial of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia — As part of a series of events surrounding commemoration of the centennial of the Bolshevik Revolution, Julie DeGraffenried, Ph.D., associate professor of history, will present a Russian film entitled, "The Romanovs: An Imperial Family," from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Cox Lecture Hall of Armstrong Browning Library at 710 Speight Ave. The film chronicles the last days of Tsar Nicholas II and his family. Free Enterprise Forum: David Henderson — Economist David Henderson, professor of economics at the Graduate School of Business and Public Policy for Naval Postgraduate School, will present "Economic Inequality: Popular Misconceptions and Important Facts" from 4 to 5:15 p.m. in Foster 240 of Hankamer School of Business.
