Career Services to Host Resume Writing Seminar Sept. 11

September 5, 1997

Students interested in finding a job may attend a resume writing seminar at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, in Room 103 of the Baylor University Cashion Building in the Hankamer School of Business.
Baylor Career Services will host the seminar and John Cunningham, lecturer in communication studies, will give a presentation. Cunningham will discuss the process of finding a job. He will begin with developing an effective cover letter and resume and end with successful interviewing strategies.
Some people may think that good skills alone will get them a job, but Cunningham said if a people do not start the job search process correctly, they never get the chance to promote their skills.
"Technically your resume is what makes your first impression," he said. "It is so important to have good content and good form."
Cunningham will base his presentation on a national survey he conducted on company representatives who recruit at colleges. In 1998, McGraw-Hill will publish the surveys in a book called Surveying The Field.
