First Student-Run Theater Production Opens at Baylor

August 5, 1997

The Baylor University Theatre Student Society will host "The Boys Next Door," the first student-produced, designed and directed show ever to be performed on the Baylor stage. Show times are set for 7:30 p.m Aug. 7-8 and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9.
Jami Hradecky, the director and Rockdale senior, says that "although it is sad in some places, it is a heartwarming comedy."
The play follows the lives of four mentally challenged roommates - Arnold, Barry, Norman and Lucien - and their day-to-day obstacles, triumphs and failures.
The four main characters will be portrayed by Derek Phillips, a Miami senior; Brent Sykora, a Lorena senior; Kris Harrison, a Carrollton senior; and Billy Hollis, an incoming freshman from Roundrock. Mike Schraeder, a Riesel senior, will play Jack who takes care of the four roommates.
Shows will be performed in Theater 11 of the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center.
Admission is $3 per person and tickets can be purchased at the door. Proceeds benefit the Baylor University Theatre Student Society and the Association of Retarded Citizens.
