WACO, Texas (March 30, 2017) — A theological education program for those looking to enrich their faith or to minister to others, but who do not have the time or money to pursue a master’s degree, is being provided through an online certification program from Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary.
The updated two-year Certificate of Ministry program is a perfect fit for those with busy schedules and tight budgets, among them bi-vocational pastors, ministers, church leaders and laypeople, according to the Rev. J. David Tate, coordinator of Truett’s Certificate of Ministry Program.
In addition, a new, shorter option — the 16-month Certificate of Christian Foundation — is for laypeople who want to enhance their faith.
“This is one of the best and most flexible opportunities for ministry preparation or personal edification,” Tate said. “It is now possible for anyone, regardless of academic background, to access affordable theological education.”
Truett Seminary also has formed a new partnership with the Texas Baptists Urban Church Leaders Certification. It allows students to pursue a Certificate of Ministry with four Urban Ministries course options.
All courses in the certificate programs have continuous open enrollment and may be started at any time. Assignments are accessible with only modest amounts of writing required, and most certificate students spend approximately one to three hours weekly on their studies. The courses are non-academic, so there are no grades or due dates for assignments.
