WACO, Texas (Nov. 22, 2016)—This week, Baylor University will host several concerts, lectures and events, including Christmas on 5th Street.

Thanksgiving Break is from Wednesday, Nov. 23, to Friday, Nov. 25. No classes will be held and administrative offices will be closed. The McLane Student Life Center will be closed. The libraries will remain open until 5 p.m. Wednesday but will be closed Thursday through Saturday. Residence halls will be open with limited front desk services and dining hours.

MONDAY, Nov. 28
Chapel Highlights — The topic of Chapel will be “Worshipping at Advent” and will be at 9:05, 10:10 and 11:15 a.m. For more information and a list of future speakers, visit the chapel website.
Movie Mondays at the Hippodrome — Student Activities and the Waco Hippodrome will show “Gleason” at 7 p.m. at the Hippodrome, 724 Austin Ave. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office, 1311 S. Fifth St., or online.
TUESDAY, Nov. 29
Cross Cultural Engagement Dinner and Student Panel with Baylor NAACP — The dinner and panel with Baylor NAACP will be at 8 p.m. in the Bobo Spiritual Life Center, 500 Speight Ave.

WEDNESDAY, Nov. 30
Chapel Highlights — The topic of Chapel will be “Practicing the Peace” and will be at 9:05, 10:10 and 11:15 a.m. For more information and a list of future speakers, visit the chapel website.
ISR Lecture — Christian Sahner, Ph.D., historian of the Middle East and Research Fellow at St. John’s College, University of Cambridge, will give a lecture on “To Resist or Not? How Christians Responded to Living Under Early Muslim Rule” at 3:30 p.m. in Room 152 of Draper Academic Building, 1420 S. Seventh St. Click here to register.
Sociology Poster Presentations —The presentations of the final projects for SOC 4381 will be from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Cashion Banquet Room, Cashion Academic Center, 1401 S. Fourth St. This event is free and open to anyone interested in sociology. Dr Pepper floats will be provided.
THURSDAY, Dec. 1
Christmas on 5th Street — This year’s Christmas on 5th Street will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Fountain Mall and 5th St. Join the fun with a marketplace, Christmas tree lighting, petting zoo and more. For more information, visit the student activities website.
A Baylor Christmas Concert — The Baylor University choirs and Baylor Symphony Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall, Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. An additional concert will be held at the same time and in the same location on Friday, Dec. 2. Baylor Advent Service — A Musical Advent Service will be at 6 p.m. in Armstrong Browning Library, 710 Speight Ave. The service will last about 40 minutes and is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the Baylor calendar.
